THE ROSARY Prayed daily, Mon-Fri after 7:00 a.m. Mass and before 12:10 Mass.  On Sat and Sun the rosary is prayed before the 8:00 a.m. Mass.

PERPETUAL ADORATION  Perpetual Adoration takes place 24/7.  We need Guardians to spend one hour with Jesus in the Chapel each week at the times listed below. Call Deacon Joseph & Mrs. Diane Celentano at 882-2632 if you would answer Jesus’ call to you to be a Guardian.

FOOD PANTRY
DONATIONS NEEDED

Please remember our food pantry when you do your grocery shopping. We are in need of donations to replenish our food panty in order to prepare Easter food baskets for those in need. We will be preparing the baskets for distribution on Saturday – March 27. If you need a basket or know a parishioner who might be in need, please call the Rectory at 454-4946. Please have the person’s name, address and phone number when you call. 

Our Penance Service

will be Sunday, March 21 at 4:30 p.m.

Stations of the Cross

Stations every Friday during Lent at 7:00 p.m. in the Church. Followed by a movie presented by the Young Apostles.

 


SCHOOL NEWS
ST. DANIEL – ST. MATTHEW ACADEMY

SDSMA Scrip Order forms for scrip/gift cards for many major retailers are available in the entryways to the church. A percentage of every dollar goes directly to St. Daniel – St. Matthew Academy!

Fish Fry at the School St. Daniel – St. Matthew Academy’s annual Fish Fry is every Friday during Lent ending on Good Friday (April 2).  Dinner is from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the school cafeteria in East Syracuse.  Take out is available.  Come enjoy great food and fellowship at an affordable price.  We will again have our Basket Raffle during the Fish Fry.  Raffle tickets are $1 each.

Cash Raffle St. Daniel – St. Matthew Academy will be having a Cash Raffle of 12 prizes totaling $2500.  Every Friday we will draw a $50 winner and on Good Friday we will have (1) $1000 ~ (1) $500 ~ (1) $250 ~ (2) $100 winners.  The winning ticket will be removed from the drawing.  You DO NOT have to be present to win.  Tickets are only $5 each and can be purchased at all Fish Fry’s or at the school office.
 


YOUNG APOSTLES

YOUNG APOSTLES MEETING The Young Apostles youth group for grades 7-12 meets on Sundays at 6:00 p.m. Next meetings are Feb. 21st & 28th in the Religious Education Building. Next meetings are March 7th & 14th in the Religious Ed Building.

Movie Night This Friday, March 12th, our feature will be St. Patrick (90 minutes). The movie is presented by the Young Apostles and will follow the Stations of the Cross.

Baby Shower Thank you to everyone who donated to the Young Apostles’ Baby Shower for New Hope Family Services. If anyone has any more items to donate, please bring them to the sacristy or the rectory.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE FEBRUARY 17 – MARCH 28  Join us as 162 cities across America and beyond engage in a spiritual campaign of prayer and fasting to end abortion. It runs from February 17 – March 28. In the past five national campaigns, more than 2,168 babies and moms were spared the tragedy of abortion. We ask for your prayers and fasting and your peaceful, prayerful presence in front of Planned Parenthood (1120 E. Genesee St. Syracuse)

Drivers Needed Drivers are needed to deliver plants to our shut-ins and elderly parishioners on Saturday, March 20th.  If you can help, please call Roslyn Giufre at  474-3066.

Operation Rice Bowl If you have not already done so, we encourage you to take a bowl from one of the entrances of the church and participate in this Lenten program by Catholic Relief Services. We will continue to accept filled bowls after Easter.

Lenten Bible Study Our Lenten Bible Study has begun. The topic is priesthood. You may want to meet in homes or at the church. Groups are currently meeting in the Religious Ed. Building on Mondays at 10:00 a.m., Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m., and Saturdays at 8:30 a.m.  If you could not participate in the past and would like to join a group, please contact Paul Loman or Cindy Hoosock in the Religious Education Office at 454-3639.

St. Daniel Men’s Group meets every Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in the Religious Education Building (the former Convent/Pre K) after attending the 8:00 Mass together. For more information, call Vince Godlewski at 263-6279.

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) Join us here at St. Daniel’s on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. in Fr. Lyon’s Hall.  . Catholics above 11th grade who wish to receive confirmation may also attend. There is no cost and no obligation to be baptized in the Catholic Church. Easter Bunny Breakfast St. Daniel – St. Matthew Academy’s Annual Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny is Sunday, March 21 here in St. Daniel Gym from 8:30 a.m. to Noon. We will be serving eggs, sausages, pancakes, hash browns, juice & coffee. Cost: Adults $6, Children 5-15 $3, children under 5 free.

Bingo at St. Daniel Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the gym. $1,000 Jackpot!  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Chairman: Joseph Kuberski. Next Bingo is 3/10/10, with Floor Team #4 & Kitchen Team #7. For kitchen, contact Pat Cashier: 857-7600.
